- What is Medicare? It is a health insurance program by the federal government of the United States. It provides health insurance for those who are 65 years old or older, under 65 with certain disabilities, and any age with End-Stage Renal Disease).
- Medicare comes in four categories: Hospital Insurance (Part A), Medical Insurance (Part B), Medicare Advantage Plans (Part C), Prescription Drug Coverage (), and Medigap or Other Supplements.
- Part A or Medicare Hospital Insurance covers inpatient care, whether they be in hospitals and similar medical facilities. This category of Medicare does not cover custodial or long-term hospital stay.
- Part B (Medical Insurance) covers medical services that Part A does not. This may include outpatient care, doctors’ services, physical or occupational therapy, and home health care services.
- Part C is combined Hospital and Medical Insurance. However, it also provides extra benefits, such as vision, hearing, dental, and/or health and wellness programs. It may also include prescription drug coverage (or Part D of Medicare categories).
- Part D is a regulated prescription drug coverage while the last category pays for the gaps that the original Medicare plan does not cov
